How to Pose for Photos: Posing Tips That Help You Look Natural and Confident

  1. Emmet says:

That idea about comfort trumping technique is something I’ve started saying to clients before a session begins. There’s a version of pre-shoot prep that sends people into their own head – study these poses, hold this expression, think about your angle. They arrive wound up. When we started giving people permission to ignore all of that and just arrive as themselves, the work got better. At Lemon Shark Studio, where we do corporate headshots and portraits, the one thing I’d add to pre-session notes is: don’t practise in the mirror. It tends to produce a practised-in-the-mirror face.
